The Gold Record and Broccoli Lyrics

The Gold record and the lyrics to Broccoli have become the most searched for songs of 2016 on Spotify. The rap duo have also released a live album and are currently on tour. Check out the tour dates to catch them live. If you’d like to purchase a copy of their music, you can do so here. Here are some of their best lines. And if you’d like to read their lyrics, keep reading!

Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs – Year of 2016

Drake racked up the most No. 1s of any artist this year on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, with the “Work” song gaining two spots to No. 1 on the chart. It was Lil Wayne’s last top-five hit, but Drake dominated the charts as the lead performer on his trio. Drake’s newest single, “Needed Me,” follows up on that achievement.

Drake isn’t the only artist to make an R&B/Hip-Hop double-act this year. “Wild Thoughts” featuring Rihanna and “I’m the One” by DJ Khaled is the best-selling song of 2016. And if you want to hear the most homage to the late DJ Screw, you can’t go wrong with Lizzo’s single, which topped the chart for R&B in November and rap in December.

“The Ride” is Ro James’ best showcase of his soulful and sultry R&B. It’s contemporary, yet doesn’t feel dated. While formulaic R&B is overrated, “The Ride” gives us something fresh and exciting to look forward to in 2016.

“Drug Dealers Anonymous” by Pusha T was supposed to be the best track of the year, but Jay Z’s verse dragged it down. The beat is frantic, with breaks and builds perfect for a rapid-fire drug lord narrative. But the lyrics are so good, “Oouuu” was an instant classic. And “Word” by Earl is another top contender.

“Lemonade” by Beyonce’s big sister is a timeless masterpiece. Like Lemonade, A Seat at the Table is a detailed character study. A highlight of “Lemonade” is Big Freedia’s poignant “Cranes in the Sky.” And Drake’s soulful “Seat at the Table” has been the first billion-streamed song on Spotify.

“No Heart” by 21 Savage and Metro Boomin are two of the most-streamed songs of 2016. Both new-gen rappers and veteran artists have made impressive debuts this year. While most of their music consists of vapid textures with a catchy melody, some producers are experimenting with new artists in a unique way to create music that’s both fresh and interesting.

Lil Yachty’s verse

While many rappers are happy to see “Kickboxer” become a hit, Lil Yachty isn’t one of them. On his new single, “Broccoli,” the rapper references marijuana rather than broccoli. The song has taken a while to catch on, but it’s now a top-15 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Hopefully this will change soon. Here are some of the best lines from Lil Yachty’s verse on broccoli.

The song “Broccoli” has become one of the most popular songs of the year, despite being about a vegetable that’s typically dreaded by hip-hop fans. Lil Yachty and Big Baby D.R.A.M. teamed up to write the song, and the result is a platinum selling track that has over 300 million streams on Spotify. Not only did it become a hit, but it also earned the duo Grammy Award nominations. The two barely discussed the song before its performance, but D.R.A.M. revealed that he had written the hook while he was driving to work and had forgotten it until he came up with a good one.

Dram’s verse

During her solo late-night debut on Conan, D.R.A.M. performed “Broccoli,” a verse referring to the drug marijuana. While neither rapper is particularly talented, Broccoli manages to capture the high-feeling effect of a marijuana high. It is also a party-centric anthem with plenty of reverb on the beat. Here’s a closer look at the track’s broccoli verse.
